Merry Christmas! I’ve been trying to finish my race recaps before the end of the year. In honour of Christmas, I wanted to recap my second last race of 2015. A few weeks ago, Dan, Jen and I ran the Santa Shuffle 5k in Sunnybrook Park. The last time we ran this 5k, Jen and … Continue reading
I experienced a major growth spurt when I was ten and I feel like I’ve been hungry ever since. Because of this, pre-race food is very important to me, otherwise I get dizzy and lethargic. We had Tim Hortons breakfast sandwiches before the Harbour Passage 5k (race #2 of the Port City Challenge in Saint … Continue reading
I reached a very important running milestone in May when I ran my tenth half marathon! As I was getting ready to run the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Half Marathon, I reflected on my first nine halfs. Even though my training hadn’t been as diligent in the weeks leading up to Goodlife, I still had high … Continue reading
The morning of my ninth half marathon started with a plentiful room service breakfast that the Fairmont Southampton kindly arranged for us. Fruit, coffee, bagels, yogurt…I was in heaven. I joked that I’ve learned a lot since my first half marathon, which started with me trying to drink my instant oatmeal out of a paper … Continue reading
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas half marathon was my twelfth half and also the craziest one that I’ve ever run. It rained, we were hit by 20-30 mile per hour winds and we took a 35 minute break to renew our vows on the course. It was crazy, challenging and awesome all at the … Continue reading
There are only two times a year when the roads on and around the Las Vegas strip are closed. One of those times is New Year’s Eve. The other time is for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas half and full marathons. Dan and I love Vegas and given how fun the Rock ‘n’ Roll … Continue reading
I have been beaming since running the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (#STWM) on Sunday. It was my second full marathon. I’ve run #STWM for the past two years. It was my first full in 2013 and last year I did the half. What a difference two years make. Caution: This post is very long…just like … Continue reading
Last week, I ran the Toronto Yonge St 10k for the third year in a row (fourth time running this course if you count The Sporting Life 10k from 2012). The race weekend started off with picking up my race kit from the mini expo. As always, kit pick up was quick and efficient. We … Continue reading
Less than a week after running Around the Bay I was pinning another race bib on. This was another race that I had a score to settle with. Last year, my goal was to finish in 50 minutes or less and I had missed by an entire minute (an eternity for a runner). This year I … Continue reading
So far in 2015 I’ve run five races and haven’t published a single race report. I guess I have some catching up to do! On March 29, 2015 I ran my third Around the Bay 30k race. This is the race that has kicked my butt for the last two years. This year I was … Continue reading
