Earlier this month my friend Stephanie ran her first 5k race and I was able to run it with her! You never forget your first race and I was really excited for and proud of her for running her first one. We ran the Race for Health in Sarnia, with proceeds supporting the local hospital. It … Continue reading

The course of true love never did run smooth – A Midsummer Night’s Run 15k, 2014
In August I ran A Midsummer Night’s Run 15k race. I knew that the race would be challenging because I unexpectedly took three weeks off from running. In fact, this year I’ve been finding it very challenging to run consistently or even at all. Part of it has to do with not being part of … Continue reading
Wedding rings lost and found while limping through mud and fire – Warrior Dash, 2013
Since Nicola and I are running our third Warrior Dash together tomorrow I thought it would be a good time to recap last year’s race. After running Warrior Dash in 2012, Nicola and I returned for more mud, fire and hills. This time Dan decided to run it too while Connie returned to cheer us … Continue reading
Humpty Dumpty had wall issues too – Toronto Women’s Half, 2014
On Sunday I ran the Toronto Women’s Half Marathon for the second year in a row. It was just as much fun as last year, though the heat destroyed me. Kelly was also running the half and her mom Diane was running the 5k. Sadly, Arlene injured her knee so she wasn’t able to join … Continue reading
Run like Ryan Gosling is waiting at the finish line for you with a puppy – Toronto Women’s Half, 2013
Tomorrow I’m running the Toronto Women’s Half Marathon. Before I run it I thought I should recap last year’s race. I actually wrote this post a while ago but never got around to posting it. I hope the race is as much fun as it was last year! In May 2013 I ran the Toronto … Continue reading
I run for chocolate – The Chocolate Race 10 miler
In May 2013, Dan and I ran The Chocolate Race in St. Catharine’s. I had heard good things about this race and was especially lured by the promise of chocolate (on the course and at the finish) and pink champagne at the finish. With so many goodies at this race how could I resist? Dan … Continue reading
All for one and one for all! – Toronto Yonge St. 10k (TYS10k), 2014
Last week I ran the Toronto Yonge St. 10k. It was my third year in a row running this course (I ran TYS10k in 2013 and I ran the same course for the Sporting Life 10k in 2012). Even though the Toronto Yonge St. 10k boasts a fast course (it’s mainly downhill and then flat) … Continue reading
Flurries and hills – Harry’s Spring Run-off, 8k
Less than a week after running Around the Bay, Arlene and I were back and ready for more. Apparently we signed up to run races three weeks in a row, so there’s still one more to go after this one. Harry’s Spring Run-off is a popular local race that takes place in High Park. As … Continue reading
I defeated the Reaper – Around the Bay 30k, 2014
After getting crushed by Around the Bay last year, I was hungry for redemption. During marathon training I could run 30k one hour faster than I did at Around the Bay. I knew I could do better. Unfortunately things don’t always go according to plan. As I’ve mentioned before, this winter has been brutal, making … Continue reading
Screw calm and run! – Zombie Race, 2012
Three weeks after running The Color Run in Montreal, Kristen, Nicola and I ran The Zombie Race in Milton. This was the end of my “three weeks later” stretch (I went to Vegas, three weeks later I ran the Disneyland half, three weeks later I ran the Montreal half, three weeks later I ran The … Continue reading
