It’s been a while since I’ve blogged (much longer than what I would have liked). I’m happy to say that I’ve been busy doing the usual; eating, travelling and running. I recently went to Ireland and it was everything I imagined it would be and more!

Sheep and rolling hills. Ireland was everything that I thought it would be and more.
So eventually I’ll have an update on my trip. It’s going to take a while to sort through the 3,000 or so pictures I took.
In running news, marathon training is also going well, though I missed a week of it when I was in Ireland. When the choice came to going to the pub or going for a run, I chose the pub. This isn’t usually the choice that I would make at home, but it seemed foolish to miss out on live music and socialize with my tour group during my trip. Since coming back I jumped right back into marathon training (I had about 6 weeks of solid training under my belt before the trip).
I did my 26k long run over the weekend and it actually wasn’t completely painful. One thing I need to work on is figuring out my hydration on long runs. When I bought my hydration belt back in 2011 I said “I’m never going to run a marathon so I only need enough water for a half marathon.” So my belt only carries 16 ounces and I keep running out of water. For my 26k run I ran out of water with 10k to go. The last 5k was particularly painful because I couldn’t stop thinking about water and every time I saw another runner I’d stare awkwardly at their water until they acknowledged me and waved.
So that’s some of what I’ve been up to. More updates coming!
